Auxiliary Verb

Auxiliary verb berartikan kata kerja bantu dalam Bahasa Indonesia.

Modal Auxiliaries

May ~ Might

Can ~ Could

Will ~ Would

Expressing possibility = May, might, can

Ask permission = May, can, could

May & could is formal, can is not a formal.

• Should 

Should: You should go to a Doctor (should itu bisa dipakai/tidak karena saran)

• Ought to

Ought to: You ought to wear running shoes, tomorrow you joined running competition. (saran yang ditekankan)

“Sebaiknya kamu pakai sepatu lari, besok ikut kompetisi lari.

• Had better

Had better berisikan sebaiknya diberitahukan, apabila tidak maka dapat berbahaya.

Tenses

Present future: will

Past future: would

• Will

Will you share the snack = berisikan harapan.

• Can

Can you go to the gym = ajakan.

• Shall

Shall dipergunakan dalam dokumen legal seperti akta kelahiran.

• Must

Must = I must wake up early tomorrow, you must be happy

(ada aturan yang dibuat oleh diri sendiri)

• Have to

Have to = I have arrived to campus before 07.30 AM

(ada aturan yang mengikat)

Negative is used “not”

a. She doesn't has to

b. I don't have to

The student should submitted the assignment early ~ The assignment should be submitted by the student early.
